Advertising and partnerships

This is a translation provided for convenience. Only the German version is legally binding.

The muDDi Club Dresden is free and is meant to stay that way. We cover the costs of the website and meetups privately and through partnerships, for example sponsored content. So that you can always tell what is advertising and what is not, we follow these rules.

Our principles

  • We clearly and visibly label everything for which we receive something in return. "Something in return" means money, free products or services, discounts or commissions.
  • The label always comes first, never hidden at the end or among hashtags.
  • We only recommend what we think suits our community. We decide for ourselves whether to enter into a partnership.
  • Partners have no influence on our other content, such as our own guide articles and recommendations.
  • Partners only receive aggregated figures from us, such as how often their links were clicked, but never data about individual visitors or members.

How we label content

  • Advertisement ("Anzeige"): Paid or sponsored content is clearly marked at the beginning with the word "Anzeige" (advertisement) and the partner's name. This applies to sponsored guide articles on our website, sponsored meetups (for example a muDDi Walk marked "Sponsored by" with the partner's name), mentions in the newsletter and posts and stories on Instagram. On Instagram we also use the "Paid partnership" label where available.
  • Advertising ("Werbung"): If we received a product or service free of charge and present it, we label the post as "Werbung" (advertising), even if there were no further arrangements.
  • Affiliate links: Links for which we receive a commission if you buy something through them are marked with an asterisk (*) and a note. The price does not change for you.
  • Meetups with partners: If a meetup takes place in cooperation with a partner, this is stated in the announcement ("in cooperation with ...").
  • Community benefits: We present discounts and offers from partners for our community as partner offers, stating the partner's name.

We do not label recommendations as advertising if we make them on our own initiative without anything in return. However, if we have a partnership with the company, we also label such mentions.

We only show media logos in the "As seen in" section if the outlet has actually reported on us editorially. We neither pay nor receive anything for this.

The legal framework is set out in particular in Section 5a(4) of the German Act against Unfair Competition (UWG), Section 6 of the German Digital Services Act (DDG) and Section 22 of the German Interstate Media Treaty (MStV): advertising must be recognisable as such and clearly separated from other content.

What we do not advertise

We decline partnerships that do not fit our values or put pressure on mums. These include in particular:

  • infant formula (this is not a judgement: how you feed your child is entirely your decision)
  • alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes and gambling
  • diets, weight-loss products, promises such as "get your body back fast after birth" and cosmetic surgery
  • products and offers with promises of healing or without a sound scientific basis, as well as prescription medicines
  • products for babies and children that experts advise against for safety reasons
  • network marketing, pyramid schemes, high-risk financial products such as cryptocurrencies and "make money fast from home" offers
  • political parties and political, religious or ideological advertising
  • anything that discriminates, frightens or shames mothers
